Pencil Technique Saturdays, September 10 through October 1, 2022
What can you do with a pencil? Well, quite a lot actually, especially as you learn the techniques. You will be using graphite pencil as you explore the possibilities and gain a foundation for further courses in realistic art. Beginners will learn basic pencil technique, while intermediate/advanced students will hone their skills in representing 3-D form with tonal value.

Coloured Pencil Technique Saturdays,October 15 through December 3, 2022
Beginners will start with exercises and 4 set projects, followed by subjects of their own choosing. Advanced and intermediates will study colour transitions, colour proportions, textures, and how tonal value affects colour.
8 sessions, $435, Saturdays, 9:30 am until 12:30 pm

Tangerines
Saturdays, Jan. 22 -Feb. 12, 2022
Whether you call it a Tangerine, Mandarin Orange, Citrus reticulata, or Naranji, this tropical fruit is a gem. The glowing orange colour, deep green leaves, and interesting texture, inside and outside, all make for a bright start to the artistic New Year. As you make your artwork, you will have guidance in composition, proportions, curves, angles, light, shadow and colour.

Botanical subjects: Winter Fruits and Vegetables
Tuesdays, Feb. 22- March 15,2022
Even in the depths of winter, certain fruits and vegetables are bursting with life, and bring us beauty as well as nourishment. After you've chosen a subject that inspires you, you will enjoy feedback, camaraderie and a supportive environment as you take your artwork from composition to finishing touches. A presentation will accompany each session.

Nature Journaling: Spring Sketchbook
Tuesdays, April 19-May 31, 2022 (we will skip May 24)
Spring! Enjoy the unfolding as you record the stages of progression. We'll discuss various ways of organizing a nature journal and sketchbook, as well as various media, styles and techniques you can use in this endeavor.

Botanical subjects: Autumn

Autumn brings us a bounty of botanical subjects,each with its charms and challenges. Pencil Technique: An Introduction to Nature Drawing

With a simple graphite pencil, you will learn skills and techniques which apply to a broad range of serious art media: graphite of course, as well as painting in all forms, charcoal, pastel, ink and coloured pencil. Beginners will explore the possibilities and gain a foundation for further courses in realistic art. Advanced and intermediates will develop and refine their skills.

Tulips, all shapes, sizes and colours, from frilly to smooth, and from sweet species tulips to extravagant hybrids, are our silken subjects in this class. Tulip morphology and dissections will be included, as well as techniques for capturing the shape, form and colour of these horticultural stars.

Botanical subjects: Hothouse plants
Greenhouse, or hothouse, plants brighten our winter days and provide lovely botanical subjects for us to draw and paint. Participants will start out together, with similar plants, and then each participant will move on to a botanical hothouse subject of their own choosing. Each will study the shape, form and colour challenges of their particular subject, as you take your artwork from composition to finishing touches.
